So who will be delivering the Drug Intervention Programme in the Dyfed Powys region?

 

There are three providers in the Dyfed Powys region: Cyswllt Ceredigion Contact, Prism and Powys Drug And Alcohol Centres.

 

Cyswllt Ceredigion Contact

 

Cyswllt was established in 1992 with the aim of engendering hope and promoting recovery for people who misuse drugs, alcohol or food.

 

Cyswllt have been appointed as the DIP providers for Ceredigion. Ceredigion covers the area from Borth and Aberystwyth in the north to Cardigan in the south and inland to Newcastle Emlyn, Llandysul, Lampeter, Tregaron and Devil’s bridge.

 

Initial contact for Cyswllt will be via the Arrest Referral Worker whom acts as an Initial Point of Contact for the Police, Courts, and Probation services in Ceredigion. The Arrest Referral Worker will also be working closely with the Prison Link Worker within DIP to meet and offer DIP services to clients on release from prison.

 

Services provided by Cyswllt include initial assessment, counselling, day treatment service for people with drug or alcohol, or eating disorders, and for anybody affected by someone else’s using.

Prism

 

Prism is our service provider in the counties of Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. Prism, and its predecessor organisations, has been delivering substance misuse services since the early 1980’s.

 

As well as providing contact and assessment services to clients entering the DIP, Prism will provide the regions Prison Link Development Worker. Prism provides suitable treatment with the aim of reducing the harm posed to both the individual and the community. Services provided are holistic in nature accessing a wide range of wraparound services to maximise the likelihood of a successful intervention.

 

Prism has two DIP offices. In Carmarthenshire there is an office in

Carmarthen, whilst Pembrokeshire is served by an office in Haverfordwest.

Powys Drug And Alcohol Centres

 

PDAC was established in 1986 and since this time has worked with substance misusers across the county to help them address their habits and reduce the wider harm to individuals and the community. PDAC covers the counties of Breconshire, Radnorshire and Montgomeryshire.

 

PDAC delivers an holistic harm minimisation service with delivery from main offices located in Newtown, Llandrindod Wells and Brecon, with a further 8 satellite projects.

 

PDAC offers a range of services including counselling, advocacy, support to the client and family, substitute prescribing and pathways into community and residential detox. Contact for clients to the DIP programme will be through Criminal Justice Workers in Police Stations, Courts, Prison Link Worker liaison, self referral and 24 hour Helpline.
